Hello everyone. Thank you for listening to Take a Fashion Seat. Tonight's topic is the devil wears Prada looks. So you gotta love it, guys. To all those who went to see the movies, I know you enjoyed it. I'm not gonna dig into the movie because I understand a lot of people they have not been to the movies to see it. They still want to see it, so I'm not gonna get into the movie aspect. I just want to talk about the fashion. So without giving away the movie. So that's a very hot topic right now. And a lot of like besties are getting together. Like I had some friends who got together, they dressed up, wore their red shoes, and went to see The Devil Wears Prada. It's an epic, epic um movie um that many of us love. Um, we love the styles, we love the whole concept. Gotta love The Devil Wears Prada. So this particular article is coming from Reddit. Um, so basically it's just saying the fashion in the Devil Wears Prada is an iconic blend of high-end early 2000s maximalism and sweet, quiet luxury. So that was their tape defined by designer brands, layered statement accessories, and unforgettable monologues. The film's wardrobe continues to heavily influence modern style. So basically, guys, they just summed it up. Reddit summed it up. It just defined designer brands, layered statement accessories, and unforgettable monologues. And the film continues to heavily influence modern style. So we wear what we saw in that movie. Like we're we love those looks, like the iconic looks, okay. It says the Sir Lean sweater. So it's I don't know if I'm pronouncing it correctly, but the Cerulean sweater, perhaps the most famous piece of dialogue in the film revolves around the specific shade of blue. Okay, it serves as a symbol for how high fashion rumways dictate the clothes worn by the general public. So we I mean, we learn so much um based on movies, guys, and and it these movies also create trends. So sometimes after you go and you see these films, you get on board, you go shopping, and you go to master your favorite look in the film. So the Chanel over the knee boots, the ultimate fashion milestone for the character, I'm not gonna say his name because I want to give away the movie, represent a full transformation for um a journalist. So um, and everyone knows Miranda Priestley because that's who we go to the movie to see. So do you know she does her power suits and um her oversized sunglasses, and she has this aura, she's untouchable. So that's we're not gonna dig in deep because I'm trying to protect the movie, but talk about the fashion. So I'm trying to like, you're gonna think, like, well, why isn't she saying it? Because a lot of people still to this day um they haven't seen it. So I'm just talking about some of the styles to look forward to seeing. Now they had layered accessories, early um runway style um wide belts, and layered necklaces, and that was, you know, that's Miranda Priestley. Now the wardrobe pushed boundaries with a mix of um, I'll say some of the designers. There was Gauntlier, Versace, and Dior. So you'll see, you know, those designers in the movie, the power and the trends um that was created for the behind the scenes insight. Um, how the costume designers um, you know, they outfitted the cast. You'll have to go on the website, the double wears pride, and you can look and see how they put together the outfits. You you could actually go to YouTube as well, and on YouTube they're showing how the outfits are put together. So do that when you get a chance. Go on your um YouTube and check out you know how the outfits were put together. So I Vogue did Vogue Australia did an article as well, and the outfits to see Minute, the Devil Wears Prada, um, is fashion history. So they talked about the layered Chanel necklaces, the tweed caps. Um, you know, it just if you you open up the article with Rogue Australia, they'll talk about 54 of the iconic looks. Now, who what where? This is where I got some of the main squeeze. They did inside every outfit from the Devil Wears Prada 2. So they tracked the down outfits. This article was by Marina A. Ram, who we love. She did an interesting and excellent article on the looks. And she said, if there's one thing I can tell you for certain without having even seen the Devil Wears Prada, it's that a million girls would kill for the wardrobe. Nearly 20 years after the original, Anne Hathaway, Merrill Street. You know, they and Emily Blunt are stepping back into their iconic rose and you know, giving us and serving us what we deserve. We want to see. You know? So to say the sequel has a lot to live up to would be a gross understatement. This is what she's saying. The original gave us one of the fashion cinema's most iconic style transformations, second only, perhaps, to Princess Diaries. As costume designers Molly Rogers put it, in the first film, she's a true fish out of the water. And watching her evolution, especially stepping into pieces like the Chanel Die High Boots, was everything. While the early reviews are already promising, there's one thing I'm far more interested in dissecting is the wardrobe. So far, I told you about the person I'm gonna mention name, has been spotted in an impossibly chic all-white look, anchored by I'm not gonna say the name, burrow leg denim, a razor sharp vintage jean pot gauliera suit, and a patchwork linen dress by Gabriella Hurts. And I love Gabriella Hurts, so that's one of the outfits, guys. I'm not trying to say names because I don't want to give up too much. You gotta go look at the film, or you can go on YouTube and look at some of the videos and they'll tell you who wore what. But I prefer for you to go see it. So I'm trying to dance around the names, but telling you about the fashion, okay? So, like Miranda Priestley, I can just say her name because we like we gotta talk about her. Meanwhile, remains exactly as she should, and possibly polished. We know that, guys. She's perfect, and everything is in place on her, like from her head to her toe. So the article went on to talk about her and saying the foundations of her wardrobe are still there in razor shop tailoring, floor-sweeping coats, and elegant mini skirts. But this, but this time they've been reworked with a fresher, more look. So, you know, they're more fresher. She got the designer bags, um, of course, the Chanel Messenger, the Ortega Vanetta, and then she has um other stylish looks. Now, you can shop for the looks. You could do Neely Lotin Shoes by Prada. Of course, go do now. There's some if you go on the Prada website, you'll see the white Prada, and they call it the antique leather pumps. So you might want to get those if you want to mimic looks, you want to do gray power suits. Um, if you want to shop, you can do YSL double breasted suits. Um, you could do the Coach Ludlow Messenger bag if you want to captivate that look. If you want like a gray blazer, you could do the Mango Um straight linen blend blazer. Um, and Mago also has Mango has a straight fit linen blend suit, guys. Um now a lot of the now you could do the white shirts by self-ridges, like the crop pleated shirt, and you can do the self-ridges skirt, pleated wrap, midi skirt, um, and Reese or Rides, R-E-I-S-S has a pleated midi skirt. Um, you could also shop, um, trying to get um Barberry has these are looks that you could captivate to get those looks. Um, Barberi has a pleated wool blend midi skirt. So that was a nice article. Um I mentioned by who what wear. Then I gave you some looks you could master. Now, WWD continued. They did all the costumes from the Devil Wear Prada, um, and they went on to talk about um the film began on July 21st, um, nearly 20 years. So expected to be released in May, which it did. Returned Ann Hathaway, Andy Sachs, and Merle Street. Now, in this article is WWD, um, and they talked about um Miranda Priestley, Emily Blunt, and Emily Chalton, and Stanley Tucci as Nigel. So WWD took a closer look at the costumes worn and they gave the credits to GC Images. They did a lot of beautiful looks. Um, Ann Hathaway and Stanley Tucci um wore a lot of iconic looks from, you know, this was like that. So the Double Way's Prada 2 in Central Park, they did um, they wore West dress from the spring 24 collection from Katie. So you can get those looks, okay. And Hathaway, you know, they they were in Central Park, and a lot of the looks were captivated. Um, she was seen on the set in New York City wearing like different and con iconic looks. Emily Blunt was seen on the Upper East Side while they were filming, and also Miranda Priestley was seen. Um, she wore um one particular outfit was the Brioney Raymond Jumbo Sloan Diamond Hoops and the Slim Sloan Diamond Ring, if you're interested in her jewelry. Um, I'm looking at some of the images by GC Images, and you can go look yourself. Anne Hathaway was on the set in New York, and she had a bunch of like the pleated skirts, guys. Like I just mentioned some that you could go by and mimic the looks. Um and GC Images, go look at there and you can see many of the looks there as well. Now, Stanley Tucci and Merle Street were seen a lot of the days. Um, one street wore was a red gown with a cinch waist and exaggerated off-the-shoulder neckline. You could captivate that look as well. Now, there was another look by Emily Blunt where she wore um the Palomo sneakers heels from Brandon Black with a Dior print shirt and sunglasses in a bag. So you might want to mimic those looks. So you can buy, you can captivate these looks by buying from other designers. Um, just go and look at the looks, and you can also purchase them from different designer brands, getting that look. So um, I'm just moving along. The WW did did an excellent job on all of the costumes. There was one um where Merrill Merle Street wore the Sasu Phi. I think it's Sasu Psy. So it's S-A-S-U-P-H-I. So Sasu Psi or Pi. Um, Stanley Tucci wore a lot of amazing suits. Um, they even wore Gabriella Hertz um in one scene. Anne Hathaway wore the Gabriella Hurts heels and some Oliver Goldsmith sunglasses. Now, also Anne Hathaway was seen, she accessorized with Gemma Wynn jewelry. So check out Gemma, Gemma Wynn, guys. Now I'm looking at something I love. And then this is Anne Hathaway wore a Gabriella Hertz uh and Paris Texas accessorize with the Malo glass squash bead choker she's wearing, and I love this. And she got she has our emerald cut toggle necklace, which looks nice. Guys, you gotta go to WD. For me, doing this podcast tonight. My favorite was WWD. They did an excellent job captivating these outfits, guys. Go look at them and just go immerse yourself into the looks. Um, here's I'm looking at another look Anne Hathaway wore the Gemma when Tonja's diamond earcuffs, and she wore Samu Sun sunglasses, and I'm looking at like this all white outfit. Um, I'm looking at um Hathaway wearing a pinstripe waistcoat and coordinated trousers by Jean Paul Gaullier, Femme, an emerald cut diamond toggle pendant by Gemma Wynn. So check those out. Oh now I love this, guys. This one's cute. So this one is Anne Hathaway wearing the Toteme tank top in an Aug day denim maxi skirt. I gotta guys, I gotta get this skirt. I'm I'm gonna get it. It's called the Auguday Denim Maxi Skirt. It's pretty, oh, and I love maxi skirts. So y'all know I'm getting ready to take a picture of this while we're talking, and I'll show you guys on a later time the outfit because I want to get it. That skirt I must get. Now, in another outfit, she's wearing um a Marlow Les Blossom Bee Choker necklace, and she's wearing like a Nikki patchwork embroidered maxi dress. And I'm putting for those who like you know, the patchwork, the maxi dress is cute. Um, it's giving like back in the like 70s kind of look, but she hooked it up because the way she has she has a cap and sunglasses, and it's it's she it's giving a lot. It's really giving an amazing patchwork look, but you know, like it's it's it's cute. You may like it. So I'm gonna read some of the things that people from Reddit said, you know, this is just highlights of what people say because I like I love Reddit, because Reddit the audience give you the bare facts, they talk about it. So Queen Moose88 said that speech is the speech that made the GET fashion for the first time and how it actually works. So Bit Historical said, between the movie Um and 13 going on 30, my dream job is a teen to work for the magazine. Love, love, love the movie. So I'm just giving you like highlights of what people said about the movie and how they felt. So, because the Reddit users are amazing. So Martha Gale said, I think you hit the nail on the head. It if you took just the outfits, they're classic staples, you add it all to the accessories, they're like 2,000 outfits. She says, I'm sure 10 years from now we'll be looking back at the accessories and trends up to date and think it's silly and outdated. So, see that the way they put it together, but yeah, high-quality staples are classic and can be carried from decade to decade with the right styling. See, now y'all see why I love Reddit. I love to read what people are saying because they give you the bare truth. Now, Joedia said, I don't think it does, in all honesty. I only watched it for the first time recently, and she um was not an impression I got of the outfits. She said it could be a hangover from knowing, not knowing they were current when it came out. So that was her opinion. You know, like everything is in positive, some opinions are negative, so you gotta read the positive ones and the negative ones. Now, um Lena Well said, uh, well, I'm not gonna read theirs. Um, I'm gonna read one more. Okay, give me a second. Because I don't want to give spoilers, but I do want to read um what people are saying. Okay, so this lady said um Tracy Well Woodsy Wooded Ford said Tracy is the only person whose jacket drops immediately lensed. Everyone else is very underwhelming, you know, underwhelming. That's the way she saw the outfits. Um, and everybody agreed and not agreed. Um, let me do one more coffee, please. 1972 said, Why isn't Miranda pairing her herme scarves from the first movie with the pieces from the row? So that's what she's saying. She said, the row, Skipperelli, and Vintage Prada, if they put Andy in suiting, then where is Saint Laurent? Plus, I picture Andy embracing Jonathan Anderson Lowe's pieces, Chloe's Resurgence and Miyu Miyu's Freshness. So that was her opinion. And then she went on to say, and if Nigel is in a suit for this sequel, where the H Thomas Brown. And why is Emily wearing Dior? I see Emily of today wearing um Matthew Blazey's Bottega Manata with classic uh incorporation of Daniel Lee's reinvented Burberry, Jucta Pose with Vintage Valentino. And the bags were all the beloved iconic bags. So we're gonna end it on that note. I hope you enjoy my podcast talking about the Devil Wears Prada. I hope each of you get a chance to go see it. I didn't give away too much, I just talked about the fashion, and I wanted you guys to get like a whiff, a tad piece of some of the looks. Um, there were so many, many more. And gotta love the devil wears Prada, gotta love Ann Hathaway, gotta love Miranda, gotta love Choo G. Gotta love Emily Blunt. I mean, I'm just trying to just tell you guys how amazing the film was. Without I hope I didn't give away too much. Thank you for listening. Thank you guys. I appreciate each of you. Have a good night.
