Hello everyone. Welcome to Take a Fashion Seat. Tonight's topic is J. Crub. Gotta love it. So I want to talk about the history AI overviews. So basically, J. Cruz began in 1983. And during that period, I was, oh gosh, I'm telling my age. This is my college years. So it they started as a catalog retailer. Um, remember guys, Pablo Mechanics? You probably don't, but for those who know, you know, you know. Um, they were it was launched by Arthur Senator. Um, it was affordable preppy. Basically, it was that period. Affordable preppy. Ivy League style basics like rugby shirts and chino pants. So the first store opened in 1989, and then under the creative director, Jenna Lyons, who we all know, guys, from the Housewives of New York. Oh my gosh, I love Jenna Lyons. And I'm going to tag her with um, so I hope she listens to the podcast. Because you gotta love her, because she was the creative director doing 2008 to 2017, and the CEO was Mickey Drexler. So basically the brand shifted towards a luxury meets casual, you know, and that's what happened. Um, they went through some financial distress, um, culminating a bankruptcy in 2020. But that's that. We're this is a positive podcast. So we just want to talk about positive things about J. Career. So it Origins was 1947 to 83, founded by Mitchell Snyder Saul, Charles and Popular Club Plan, selling um six lower-priced women's apparel through a home like demonstrations. They launched in 83 through 89. So the preppy looked, you know, 100 million in five years. They did very excellent. The retail they expanded um during that period to the 1990s. Um, the Jenna Ur, where Jenna Lyons was the amazing person who was the creative director, and you know, the brand gained high fashion status dressing celebs like First Lady Michelle Obama. Well, she was the first lady. Um, and it launched Madwell in 20, you know, 2006. So the it's J. Crew is an amazing brand. I love it. Um, if you want quality, go to J. Crew because it's just there, it's J. Crew is everything. And I want to get into the J.Crew story. So if you go on the their site, you can actually read the story of J.Cruw. They're gonna tell you basically their story. Um, and I want to talk a little bit about their story. So give me a second because I gotta move back and forth between screens. Okay, so the J. Crew story. All right, so they wrote a story about the heritage made modern, they make modern classics with characters. Um, they believe in true timelessness, the integrity of well-made clothes, and since their inception, great quality at a great price is in their DNA. So they know it's only about the clothes, it's about the feeling it gives the people who wear them, whether they're confidentially giving a presentation in a well-tailored suit, basking in a salt, you know, in salty beach days and vibrant sun-soaked swimsuits, or joyfully discovering their favorite roll neck sweater in their closet again and again, season after season. So, J. Crew, that was their message that they wanted people to know. That it's it's just a brand that has a quality message, and now let's dig into the J. Crew brand and where you can get like so. Of course, you know, you can go on the website and shop, you know, it's high quality, so you can shop there. You could actually go on the J.Crew site, jcrew.com, and you can shop there. So they have a lot of amazing things you can buy, like men's, women's, women's sales, you can do factory, etc. Um, people said, is it considered fast fashion? No, it's not fast fashion. Um, it's timeless designs, and it's it's heavily trend-driven brands, but they operate on frequent like new releases and large-scale production. It's not fast fashion, I wouldn't say that. They've been around a long time, and uh there's they have quality clothes. Fast fashion is kind of like you know, you get it out, it's just made, it's not even made. Some of J. Crew stuff is basically tailor-made, it looks good, it feels good. Um, there's never complaints about it. It's it's a great brand. So no, it's not that fashion. Now they they said what kind of brand is it? Crew clothing is like a British clothing retailer. Um, they specialize in shoes, accessories, casual wear, men's and women women. Um, you can order online or you can go to a store. Like they have one I want to go visit this summer down in Canton and Baltimore. J. Crew has a store I want to check out. I mean they have other places, but I want to go to the one in Canton because I heard that one is nice. So I'm when I go, I'll let you guys know because I love J. Crew. J. Crew, I have um some amazing pieces in my closet, and you can get it like at different stores. Um, but they've been around for a long time. J. Crew is everything, and we just want J. Crew to continue to thrive. I want the brand um to continue to grow in modern looks, apparel accessories for children and women, they have the nicest cashmere sweaters, dresses, they have jackets, suits, shoes, quality, craftsmanship, and enduring styles. And you can also do like the factory, the outlets, you could do online. I mean, it's many ways the J. Crew, you can get the clothes. You can go on Instagram and look, go on their Facebook page, and their Instagram page, um, and you can find the J Crew. So locations and Merlin is the one I told you in Canton they have the one in Columbia, which I live. I can go to the one in Col because that's where I live. Like basically, I can get there in probably 10 to 12 minutes if I go to Columbia. That's Howard County, and then they have one. Well, yeah, that's where they have the one that I can go. I can go between the Columbia one and the one downtown, but I'll do I want to do both. I've been to the one in Columbia, but I want to do the one in Baltimore because I heard that one is nice. Um, so that's the one I'm gonna check out. Then they have one also at Harbor East, which I love as well. Um, Harbor East is like Alice Anna Street in Baltimore. So if you want, you know, I mean J. Crew is just it's so amazing. Even White Marsh Mall has J. Crew. These are places you can get in Maryland if you're in my area. Of course, they have them all over. They have them in Florida, Houston, they have them in New York City, like wherever you need to go, J. Crew is there. You can find these fashion preppy looks basically everywhere. They'll never go out of style. There'll always be a place to go get preppy, casual style clothing. Alright, so shop J. Crew. So if you want to shop J. Crew, you can do Sync a September. That's a place where you can get it. You can get it at OGL Move, Sacks Fifth Avenue. These are places where you can get J. Crew. And we got into the history, we talked about that. So Wikipedia just told when the retailer was founded. We talked about that. Key people now is Libby Waddle and Julia Collier. Um, they have amazing revenue. We're not going to get into that. Um, the retail stores we discussed it. Um, different places you can get it. And even you can also shop internationally. Canada, France, the UK, Japan. Um, and but they got a flag store. Well, they have a store in Manhattan. I don't know if it's the flag store, but I know there's one in Manhattan, which may be the flag store. Um, they have some phases of openings. They want to do Philadelphia, Cambridge, and Portland, Oregon. So um that's well, yeah. Now in 2011, this is some history, they opened um the international store in Toronto. So, like I told you, they were in Canada. So Vancouver and Robeson Street. That's they did that. This wasn't this was in 2011. So in 2016, 2018, um, they closed a few of their locations, but that was just a few. Now, their marketing is amazing because they do they did the catalog distributing. Um, beginning in 2017, the catalog began released with fewer pages, but still, I mean, they're known for the catalog. They, you know, they they're very nice, and their brand appeals to millions of people who love the preppy look, people who attend college, um, people who want to hang out at the beach, people who want to casually just do things like barbecues, go to concerts. I mean, you gotta love it. You gotta love J. Cru because they're everywhere. They have an aura, and they're considered like quality fashion. Meaning they do, you know, they can do they do silk, they do cashmere, they provide um modern looks, and they emphasize on style and craftsmanship. So I think I've covered mostly everything about J.Crew. I want you guys to go check out the brand, go on um their website and check the brand out and shop because you will enjoy shopping for your spring and summer wear. J.Crew has the latest trends, and you can enjoy just purchasing items ranging from tops to bottoms, kids' items, and let me see if they have anything on sale. So they do, they have um some sale items and they have some clearance, and you can get the J. Crew cashmere sweater on sale, you can get um Thread Up has some nice things, of course. J. Crew has the J. Crew women's tunic dress, that's on sale, and the J. Crew Um Carolina suit, so you can also get that, that's on sale. So go check out their sales. They got even have dinner, handbags. I mean, it's just J. Crew. You and now, if you go to the factory, you can get even a lot, like the discount items. So, you know, if you want to save, you can check out the factories as well. And J.Crew, you know, they're having like this amazing now spring sale of the season where you can get an extra 40% off selected items and markdowns. The website, you could go to the factory, the outlets, you can actually go to the stores, or you can go on um the vintage sites where you can get pieces if you want to do the vintage because J.
